(KSL News) -- Midvale police are also investigating a string of vandalisms and thefts over the weekend.
Cars in one apartment complex had smashed windows,
On some, the doors and trunks were also pried open.
Thieves grabbed purses and wallets, cd's and stereos, registration papers... even ashtrays out of the cars. And in one case....a student's notebooks were taken.
Neighbors spent most of yesterday assessing the damage.
Colleen Fici/Apartment Complex Resident: "I THINK A LOT OF IT HAS BROUGHT US CLOSER TOGETHER TO KEEP AN EYE ON EACH OTHERS PROPERTY. A LOT OF US ARE SCARED, YOU KNOW, THAT THIS MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN.""
Midvale investigators took fingerprints and have recovered some of the stolen property... including the student's schoolwork which was found dumped outside a nearby restaurant.
