(KSL News) – A man was seriously injured after jumping off a balcony at Saltair.

Police say the man was at a concert, and got into a fight with another man earlier in the night. The man was beaten so severely, medical staff took him into a VIP room to treat his wounds. But instead of staying in the room, the man jumped 30 feet off the second floor balcony.

Lt. Jay Southam, Salt Lake City Sheriff's Department: "THE VICTIM OF THIS INCIDENT TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO JUMP UP, RUN TO THE DOOR, RUN OUT OF THE ROOM AND JUMP OFF THE BALCONY, DOWN TO A CONCRETE FLOOR BELOW."

The victim is in critical condition at University Medical Center.
