SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) -- A former school crossing guard was sentenced up to five years in prison for having sexual relations with a 17-year-old mentally retarded girl who changed buses at his corner.

Robert Bruce Moffett was sentenced Monday.

He was originally charged with first-degree rape and second-degree forcible sexual abuse. However, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of having unlawful sex with a 16- or 17-year-old.

The 52-year-old Moffett also promised to associate only with people his own age when he is released from prison.
