(Millville-AP) -- Mike Johnson wins the Millville Mayor's seat by a head.

The race was so close between resident Guy Curtis and Millville City Councilman Mike Johnson that the contest ended in a coin toss.

The councilmembers were deadlocked in two rounds of paper balloting and couldn't secure a majority.

Under Utah law, if no one gets majority the second round, the winner is determined by coin toss, drawing strings, or any other method the council chooses.

So coin toss it was.

And it landed on heads, which was called by Johnson.

It was the first time in the city's history that a mayor was decided by a coin toss.

Johnson takes over for former Mayor Gale Hall.

She resigned last month citing personal problems.
