(KSL News) -- An innovative sculpture by an Highland artist is intriguing, whimsical and kinesthetic. It's also junk, and it's the centerpiece of a new art exhibit at BYU.

Art Exhibit Made of Junk

Andrew Smith's "Portal" sculpture makes junk talk. "Portal" is a rolling ball sculpture. It has a crane that lifts a steel ball onto a downward track, setting off horns, bells and whistles.

The exhibit, entitled "Poetic Kinetics", has drawn lots of attention and smiles.

It runs through October 18th.
