PROVO -- The BYU Cougars have moved to No. 14 in the latest BCS standings.
After defeating the University of Utah 26-23 in overtime Saturday, the Cougars (10-2, 7-1 MWC) moved from No. 19 and into the Top 15.
The Cougars' No, 14 placement ties BYU's highest-ever BCS standing; the Cougars were 14th at 10-1 on November 16, 2008.
The top six in the BCS remained unchanged after Saturday's action.
Florida and Alabama are ranked number one and two, but that will likely change as the two will meet Saturday in the Southeastern Conference Championship.
The Texas Longhorns remained No. 3 and face Nebraska in the Big 12 title game, also on Saturday.
TCU, from the Mountain West Conference, and Cincinnati round out the top 5.
Cincinnati plays Pittsburgh in the Big East Championship, while the Horned Frogs are done playing and are awaiting a BCS invite.
Boise State remained No. 6.
BYU was one of 20 teams announced as "under consideration" for BCS participation last week, and according to KSL Newsradio's Greg Wrubell, "the Cougars could keep that status this week, although possibility of an at-large selection is so remote as to be all but inconceivable."
The BCS bids go out next Sunday.
Utah (9-3, 6-2) dropped from No. 21 to No. 25 in the BCS standings.
The Cougars moved up to No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and No. 16 in the AP Top 25 Poll.
Utah fell out of both polls.
MWC-affiliated bowls are not expected to announce their selections until potential bowl participants are "released" from BCS consideration.
The MWC says all conference-affiliated bowls will be finalized on Sunday, Dec. 6.
