ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A man who admitting taking sexually explicit photographs of a 12-year-old was sentenced Wednesday to 11 years, three months in federal prison for child pornography.
Charles M. Lala, who pleaded guilty in July, acknowledged that he had sexual relations with the victim for years before the photos were found on his computer.
Lala earlier pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Utah and was sentenced to four years, nine months by a federal there on that charge.
The sentences are to be served consecutively.
Lala, 53, was arrested on Oct. 10, 2002, in Emery County, Utah, in the company of another girl, a 15-year-old from Deltona. She had been reported as a runaway from the custody of the Department of Children & Families for more than a month.
The arrest came after Utah authorities received word that Lala was selling guns at a truck stop. When police checked him out, they discovered warrants on him from Florida.
