SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Qwest Communications International is adding 155 jobs to its Utah work force by creating a regional technical call center downtown.

"We put a lot of thought into where to house these new jobs," said Jerry Fenn, Qwest president for Utah.

In August, the company announced it would probably bring about 10 jobs in Utah as it added 500 customer service and sales jobs in 11 states. But on Tuesday, Qwest announced the much greater number of jobs to support digital subscriber line service.

The new center will be cross the street from Qwest's main Utah administrative offices. The company has nearly 3,000 workers in the state.
