(Fruit Heights-AP) -- David Rasmussen's name is on the election ballots in Fruit Heights. The only problem is, he's no longer a candidate.
The 29-year old withdrew from the race for city council, but he failed to officially notify the city until yesterday.
Candidates are required by law to submit a formal letter of resignation to the city to withdraw from municipal races. But Rasmussen says he didn't know that until October 20 and by then the ballots were already printed.
City officials say this mishap will make it difficult to have a clear election.
The city's already received 11 absentee ballots.
Now that the damage is done, officials say the only thing Rasmussen can do now is get the word out at that he's not running at Thursday's meet-the-candidates night at city hall.
