(KSL News) -- The investigation is growing into the burglars who keep ripping out phone lines to knock out alarm systems.
Salt Lake County Detectives are now investigating over a dozen cases. Over the weekend an office building was hit. Investigators arrived to find phone lines cut on the outside and offices burglarized inside.
Since about July there have been similar cases all over the Salt Lake Valley and even up in the Weber County area. Catching the burlgar has been like trying to catch a ghost.
Detective Kevin Barrett, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "They're doing it at night in business areas that are closed. There's no one around. When the alarm gets cut a lot of the alarm companies and their clients may choose not to be notified when the alarm is interrupted so there's no police response out there."
Doctors and dentists offices are also being hit, but investigators say they don't appear to be interested in drugs, only petty cash and checks.
