Kimberly Houk ReportingSkiers and snowboarders from all over the state, and even a few from out of state strapped on their skis and snowboards for the first time this season and hit the slopes at the Brighton Ski Resort. Today was opening day, about a month early.

There were a lot of smiles and a lot of excitement on the mountain today. All the winter storms we've been having turned today into a great opening day for Brighton. Brighton is usually the first resort to open in Utah because it's higher than the other resorts and it gets more snow.

As the snow started falling, word got out fast -- even out of Utah.

Ken White, New Jersey: “Hopped on the plane last night, got in this morning about 2:00 in the morning. Slept and we’re here.”

Zach Argoey, Salt Lake City: “I’m stoked. I’m ready. I’ve got my magnets on my car. Got my snowboards. I’m ready.”

Ken White, New Jersey: “This is the only place I think in the U.S. that's open. Colorado's got some resorts open, but it's all man-made snow. Utah's perfect weather, but nobody's open. I don't understand; they should open up all the resorts."

Solitude will be the next resort to open and it opens next Friday. All other resorts will open on the 22nd.
