SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies are investigating several overnight stabbings that sent a total of five people to area hospitals.
One of the stabbings happened at Dimitri's, a private club. Officers say it appears 32-year old Gonzalo Herrera Jr. and 28-year old Joseph Cardenas got into an argument with the three victims and ended up stabbing them.
Both men have been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
Deputies believe the other two stabbings were results of domestic violence. Investigators say 27-year old Jason Pando stabbed 43-year old Lawrence Pollock multiple times after Pollock tried to intervene in a domestic dispute that was escalating out of control.
Pollock was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Pando then attempted to leave the scene but was found hiding in a nearby apartment complex by a sheriff's office K-9 unit.
Update: Charges against Jason Pando in this case were dismissed Sept. 21, 2004.
