FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- Access from Lake Powell to Rainbow Bridge National Monument has been closed by flooding.
Flash floods washed out a large portion of the trail, said Glen Canyon National Recreation Area officials on Thursday.
Page, which is 50 miles south of the monument, received 0.62 inches of rain in a two-day period this week, about 15 percent of the community's precipitation for all of 2003 so far.
Park service crews hope to have the Rainbow Bridge area reopened next week.
