Carole Mikita ReportingA 10-year-old Pleasant Grove girl will be going straight from school to the movies tomorrow to watch herself on the big screen. Arts Specialist Carole Mikita talked with the young Utahn co-starring in "The Cat in the Hat".
You know the scene, indeed you do when the Cat introduces Thing 1 and Thing 2. That cute little storybook character come to life, Thing 1, is really 10-year-old Danielle Chuchran from Pleasant Grove, Utah. She remembers the Hollywood audition.
Danielle Chuchran, Thing 1, ‘The Cat in the Hat': “"I just went in there and did a rap dance, and I went up with a gibberish that goes like this (she giggles as Thing 1). ‘Q- And they loved it?’ Yes, they did."
And Danielle loved them -- Mike Myers, Alec Baldwin, Kelly Preston -- cast and crew.
Danielle: "When I first went on the set, I was wondering, I wonder who my make-up artists are going to be? I'm wondering how the people are gonna be? It was one of the best days. Everybody was so nice. Would you like a drink? Sure. They were just awesome."
All was not fun, oh, no it was not. There was work to be done and quite a lot.
Danielle: "The first time I went to go do a flip, they lifted me up in the air and I'm like, ‘Oh, this is cool.’ And I started doing front flips and couldn't stop and she goes, ‘Put your hands up.’ I put my hands up and she goes, ‘Pretty good.’"
The entire five months of filming was a dream come true, she says... and just the beginning.
Daniell: “It's something that I look forward to doing the rest of my life...that, and horseback riding..."
As for the movie, you'll love it she says. You can see Danielle and, the rest of the cast, in "The Cat in the Hat" when it premieres in Utah theatres tomorrow.
