(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A US soldier from Layton died today in Iraq from a "non-combat related injury."

That's the word from the Department of Defense, who identified the soldier as 20-year-old specialist David J-Goldberg. He died in Qayyarah, Iraq -- which is located about 30 miles south of Mosul in northern Iraq.

No other details of the death were immediately released.

Goldberg was assigned to C-Company, 52nd Engineer Combat Battalion of the U.S. Army Reserve's 43rd Area Support Group in Fort Carson, Colorado.
