A Thanksgiving Message from the KSL Editorial Board:
"A Special Thanks"
"During this season of thanksgiving, KSL is grateful for the men and women of the nation’s armed forces who have responded to the call to service in Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas of U.S. military presence.

As well, our feelings of gratitude extend to their anxious families here at home who constantly live with the uncertainty of what the future will bring.

Undoubtedly, there is great loneliness, along with a degree of bewilderment at how the events of the past couple of years have so radically altered their lives. Only those who’ve experienced it can know what it means when a family unit is disrupted for a time because of war. And who, but those directly involved, fully understand the extent of the personal sacrifices being made.

The heartrending scenes of emotional farewells remain fresh in our collective memories, as do the occasional images of equally poignant reunions.

Those reunions, though, aren’t happening often enough. It means there’ll be empty seats around a lot of dining room tables tomorrow as the families of soldiers gather for the traditional Thanksgiving feast.

In their time of uncertainty and separation, KSL hopes the soldiers and their families can somehow feel the collective gratitude of their fellow citizens. Saying 'thank you' is the least we can do. "
