(KSL News)-- Family and friends gathered today to remember former Salt Lake City Councilman Tom Rogan.

He passed away early Wednesday morning in California after a short illness.

Rogan lived in Salt Lake City for 21 years, serving as City Council member and chair of the Greater Avenues Community Council.

He also worked as a real estate lawyer and broker.

A memorial service was held today at the Cathedral of the Madeliene in Rogan's honor.

He was 59 years old.
