(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A former West Valley City police officer will serve 16 years to life on sexual abuse charges.
Robert Ellis Cox was sentenced today.
The 43-year old was convicted in October of nine first degree felony counts for sexually abusing a nine-year old girl in the mid-1990s.
Cox was arrested last November in Willard River, Minnesota after being on the run for two years.
He turned himself in after he saw his story profiled on the T-V show "America's Most Wanted".
Cox was a West Valley City police officer from November 1990 to March 1994.
