(West Valley City-AP) -- A close call for a passer-by and his children who got caught in the crossfire of a police-suspect shooting.
It happened in West Valley City Saturday.
Police were chasing a suspect for violating a protective order, and during a struggle he took the officer's gun and fled.
Police caught up to him again and he fired at an officer.
The officer returned fire and one of the bullets hit a passenger vehicle with kids inside. Nobody in the vehicle was injured.
The suspect was struck by another officer's truck. He'll recover but he'll be booked into the Salt Lake County jail.
West Valley City police say they'd pay for the repairs to the vehicle, but the owner of the SUV told a local tv station he has hired an attorney and may file suit.
