Carole Mikita ReportingTwo of the world's operatic superstars are singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in this weekend’s annual Christmas concerts.

Critics call her one of America's finest artists. Frederica von Stade last sang with the choir during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Olympics.

Frederica von Stade, Mezzo-Soprano, Guest Artist: "It's always a very special joy to be able to join with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It's beyond an honor, it's a great Christmas present to be here."

A voice that fills the world's great concert halls, Welsh-born Bryn Terfel paid tribute to American baritone, Robert Peterson. In his first appearance with the choir, he admitted he didn't know what to expect.

Bryn Terfel, Baritone, Guest Artist: "I was walked into the wonderful conference center and saw a place that would hold 21,000 people! So, I was very nervous, and if there is a cloud ten, I'm floating on cloud ten at the moment."

Frederica: "I find that there's less and less music in Christmas and so, how thrilling that there's an event such as this."

When asked of their favorite numbers with the choir, Terfel said "White Christmas".

Bryn: "I've always wanted to sing it, although I feel really guilty that Bing Crosby, it's his song…I'm going to sing it with a little welsh accent.”

Frederica von Stade has been nominated for a Grammy. Bryn Terfel's latest CD is number four on Britain's pop charts. They will be signing CDs tonight at Deseret Book following the concert.
