(Provo-AP) -- A section of Provo Canyon will be periodically closed today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for testing of avalanche control equipment.

The highway will be closed in both directions between Frazier and Nunns parks. The Utah Department of Transportation says closures will last for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Highway Patrol officers and signs will be posted.

For the safety of canyon users, ice climbing, fishing and other recreational activities will not be allowed in this area during the work.
