The first crash happened about 8:30 this morning near Lindon, beginning a chain of accidents in just a two mile stretch of I-15 in both directions.

The slowdown from the crashes, heavy traffic on the freeway adn drivers following too close and not paying attention to what was happening all contributed to the accidents.

Most of the accidents were rear-end collisions, but some drivers swerved into the median to avoid hitting other cars, causing them to roll.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers went from one accident to another between 8:30 and 10:00 this morning, all the while, trying to get drivers down the road to slow down and pay attention.

At least two people suffered injuries in the crashes that required them to be taken to the hospital. None of the victims suffered more than serious injuries.

Most of the accidents caused damage to their vehicles---a few cars will likely be totaled because of the crashes.

Highway Patrol troopers say drivers need to be more patient and if traffic is backed up to think for a moment about what is going on, instead of trying to squeeze into the lane of traffic that is moving the fastest.
