(Rexburg, Idaho-AP) -- Rexburg, Idaho, already has its own Brigham Young University campus. Now, LDS church officials have told local stake leaders that a temple will soon follow.

Local church officials say they've received a letter from Gordon B. Hinckley, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In that letter, officials say President Hinckley congratulated Rexburg as the new temple site.

No construction or completion dates have been announced.

The other two Idaho temples are in Boise and Idaho Falls.

There are 128 temples existing or slated for construction worldwide.

Ricks College became Brigham Young University-Idaho a couple years ago. Rexburg East Stake President Greg Moeller says the growing student body may be a big reason for the project.
