SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Three people were killed Sunday in a head-on collision with a semitrailer.

A late morning snowstorm that slackened roads played a role in the fatal accident on state Route 40 near Strawberry Reservoir, the Utah High Patrol said.

The three were passengers in a pickup that veered into the path of the semitrailer just before noon, the patrol said.

Killed in the accident were Roger Brown, 34, of North Salt Lake, and his passengers, Anthony Lopez, 29, of Kearns and Hilary McFodden, 27, of Salt Lake City, the patrol said.

All were wearing seat belts.

The semitrailer driver received minor injuries.
