(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Though it's looked like winter in Utah for quite some time, it's officially here.
Winter started at 12:04 am Mountain time this morning when the sun reached its most southerly point in the sky.
The Nasa Solar System Ambassador to Utah says today will also be Utah's shortest day. There will be only nine hours of daylight.
The longest day of sunlight happens in June which usually lasts about 15 hours.
