(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Utah County resident and lawyer Samuel D-McVey is the new Fourth District judge.

Governor Olene Walker appointed McVey today.

He replaces Judge Ray M-Harding.

Harding resigned from the 4th District bench in February after he was charged with drug possession and the Utah House of Representatives voted to begin impeachment procedures.

He was sentenced in April to 120 days in jail for the drug offense.

McVey has been an attorney, director and shareholder with the law firm Kirton and McConkie since 1989. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps full time as a judge advocate from 1983 through 1989.
