(KSL News) Fire destroyed a West Valley City home this morning and sent one person to the hospital.

A nine-year-old boy inside the home at 13th West and 2200 South was sleeping in the living room. He awoke around 7 am to find a chair on fire. He alerted the family inside the home. All five occupants got out safely, but one person had to break a window on the south side of the home to escape.
That person was sent to the hospital with lacerations. A trail of blood led from the window to the street.
Firefighters call the home a total loss, with damage estimated at $150,000. No word yet on what caused the fire.
Power was out in the area due to heavy snow.
