(KSL News) An apparent explosion has killed an 86 year old Salt Lake woman.
A smoldering pile of rubble used to be a home.
Neighbors called 911 around 2:00 this morning after hearing a big boom at 925 E. Best Avenue.
Fire crews could see the flames from two blocks away as they arrived. The explosion damaged at least five other homes on the block.
Right now investigators say it appears accidental.
Capt. Jay: "We're working on the premise that it was natural gas. However, the investigation is ongoing. We're working with the gas company as well as our fire investigators to determine exactly what did happen."
The 86 year old homeowner, Reva Morley, was found in the debris. An autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death.
