(KSL News) A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was hit by a motorist on the 6th South offramp and I-15 this evening.

The trooper was struck as he was finishing up work on another accident in the area.
A vehicle overturned about halfway down the ramp, and came to rest in the left lanes. Troopers had shut down two lanes, as they were cleaning up that accident, when another car lost control.
Lt. Steve Myer/ Utah Highway Patrol: "The trooper was getting his traffic cones out of his trunk, and (the motorist) actually ran into the back of his patrol car, pinning him to the back of his patrol car in between their vehicles."

The officer was taken to the hospital by helicopter with leg and head injuries. Another tropper was also hurt.
The UHP says slick road conditions most likely played a role in both accidents on the ramp.
