(KSL News) -- A Utah Highway Patrol trooper is in stable condition after being hit by a car last night on the 6th South offramp from I-15.
Trooper Richard Fordham is recovering from surgery for broken leg bones.

He was getting traffic cones out of his trunk when another driver approaching the scene lost control.
The Utah Highway Patrol says slick road conditions most likely played a role.
