Another big issue lawmakers will face is hate crimes legislation. This is the eighth year for it's proposal.

Sunday night, supporters of Hate Crimes legislation held a meeting at Salt Lake City Hall. One of the special guests was Judy Shepherd, mother of murder victim Matthew Shepherd.

Utah legislators will consider two proposed Hate Crimes bills this session, one of which drew some criticism last year.
