RIVERDALE, Utah (AP) -- An Ogden man wanted for an attempted carjacking in Riverdale has been arrested for investigation of homicide in Virginia, authorities said.

Rashaun Manning, 23, allegedly shot a friend six times during a party in Chesapeake, Va. after the two began drinking, said Detective Nolan Geilmann of the Riverdale Police Department.

At least 15 people allegedly witnessed the killing, he said.

Based on information provided by the Chesapeake Police Department, Geilmann said Manning wrapped the body in a bed sheet and put it in his trunk. Later, in broad daylight, Manning allegedly threw the body into a trash bin and lit it on fire. Geilmann was not sure how Manning was eventually caught last week.

The gun was different from that used in the aggravated carjacking incident in a Lowe's shopping center on Dec. 1, in which Manning allegedly put a gun to a man's head and tried unsuccessfully to steal his vehicle before fleeing the scene, authorities said.

It is unlikely that Manning would be extradited to Weber County, since homicide takes precedence over aggravated robbery. But if acquitted of murder in Virginia, Manning could can still be tried for robbery by Riverdale authorities.
