(KSL News) -- Hill Air Force Base's 388th Fighter Wing celebrated the F-16 Fighter Jet's 25th anniversary today.

In fact, the 388th was the first to fly the aircraft operationally, back in 1979.

Area schools were invited to today's party where kids got the chance to see the jets up close. They even got to check out the cockpits.

Pilots were also on hand to share their experiences. Many said the joy of flying the jets is that it feels more like a part of them than just a machine.
