(Mesa, Arizona-AP) -- Arizona authorities are investigating a possible death threat against a former member of a polygamist church.
Ben Bistline is an outspoken critic of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He says he received a letter January 23rd at his home near Colorado City, vowing revenge. The letter also predicted that God will order -- quote -- "the destroying angels to go forth, and they will kill off all the wicked."
The East Valley Tribune says the letter stated that the only hope for a person who disobeys is blood atonement.
Bistline says the letter didn't frighten him, but he turned it over law enforcement anyway.
An attorney for the FLDS church dismisses the letter as a hoax and publicity stunt.
