(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Federal documents are providing Utah residents' first look at the personal finances of former Governor Mike Leavitt.
The documents, obtained by The Salt Lake Tribune, show that Leavitt has a personal net worth of between seven and 31 million dollars. Much of that was earned from the insurance company his father started.
Leavitt earned $166,000 last year as the state's chief executive, and he'll receive $157,000 this year as EPA boss.
Leavitt never had to publicly reveal details of his personal finances during the 11 years he served in the Capitol, since state law only requires elected officials to report political campaign contributions and expenditures.
