(Orem-AP) -- A little girl allegedly beaten by her mother's boyfriend is in a coma at Primary Children's Medical Center.
Police arrested Juan Pablo Garcia-Miranda earlier this week on suspicion of aggravated assault and rape of a child. Police say Garcia-Miranda told them he came out of the shower Sunday and found the two-year-old bleeding from the head then took her to the hospital.
But police say the man's story doesn't mesh up with her injuries. Doctors found bruises that indicate the child was physically and sexually abused and she had a fractured skull.
The little girl is on a ventilator at the hospital. Garcia-Miranda remains in the Utah County Jail.
