Sandra Yi reporting It's not something you see everyday. A car smashes through a fence and into a home in Kearns.
Juanita Drew: "It went through my bedroom and it ended up here at the front door."
There was a family inside the home when the car crashed through. Fortunately, they managed to escape unharmed.
The car came down the street and crashed through the fence at 5685 S. 4580 West. It went into the bedroom and came to a stop at the front door.
There's debris everywhere.
It was a close call for the family inside.
Juanita Drew: "There's always a lot of excitement in Kearns."
Today was no exception.
Juanita Drew: "I was getting ready to take a shower to go over to my dad's house, and had the dresser drawer open. Next thing I knew I was on the ground. I heard a big crash."
Turned out, she had a most unwelcome house guest. A white Honda.
Juanita Drew: "In my bedroom, the whole wall is moved and broken open. In the backyard where my puppies and my dog was, there's a big fence pole and part of the house is off."
The force of the crash was so strong, a peice of the fence was thrown over the house and landed in the backyard.
Juanita Drew: "It shook the entire house."
Authorities say the man behind the wheel was speeding down the street. For some reason, he veered off the road and drove through the fence.
He and the passenger got out of the car and ran. Drew's husband chased after them.
Juanita Drew: "One ran south and one ran north."
Drew still can't believe what happened. She says someone could have easily been hurt or killed.
Juanita Drew: "I'm glad that no kids were out here. There usually is and I'm just glad everyone's alright."
Sgt. Jeff Lone/ Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "Any day of the week, it could have mowed down the kids."
Authorities are trying to figure out exactly what happened. They're looking for the two men who ran.
The white car they were in was stolen out of West Valley City on Thursday.
