(Salt Lake City-AP) -- The owner of a popular downtown strip club in Salt Lake City is suing the Mormon church.

Daniel Darger, the co-owner of the Crazy Goat Saloon, alleges that the real estate arm of the church, together with the city of Salt Lake and a nearby business, are conspiring to drive his sexually-oriented business out.

The club is located near historic Temple Square. Two of the defendants in Darger's lawsuit, Property Reserve Inc. and the Souvenir Shop, had previously sued the city for improperly granting a business license to Darger. They recently included Darger in that amended lawsuit.

Darger says the issue gets to the heart of the future of downtown and who will control it.
