(Salt Lake City-AP) -- When it comes to large paychecks, Utah doctors are at the top of the list.
A state ranking compiled by the Utah Department of Workforce Services shows health-care workers make up eight out of the 10 best paying jobs in Utah.
Doctors come in first with an average wage of 93 dollars an hour followed by surgeons with about 92 dollars an hour, and internists at about 77 dollars an hour. Anesthesiologists follow the pack at almost 75 dollars an hour.
The report shows lawyers, psychiatrists and air-traffic controllers round out the last of the top 10. The listed wages do not include benefits.
Workforce Services economists say the higher wages reflect the high costs of training, and in health care, the wages also account for rising costs in malpractice insurance coverage.
