(Salt Lake City-AP) -- One child is in protective custody and another is in the hospital after officers were called to a Salt Lake City apartment complex yesterday.

Police say a witness called police after he saw a two-year-old child wandering the parking lot in a bathing suit. Police arrived and discovered a three-month-old alone in the living room of an apartment and two unrelated adults in the bedroom asleep.

The baby had bruises and an eye injury and was taken to the hospital.

The two-year-old is in protective custody and police are trying to locate the children's parents to figure out how the infant was injured.

Investigating are also trying to figure out whether child neglect or abuse charges will be filed, and what connection the two adults in the apartment had with the children.
