(Cedar City-AP) -- The 17-year-olds accused of beating their Cedar City group counselor to death with a baseball bat were in court this morning.

Jesse Simmons and Sean Graham appeared in court via video from the Iron County Jail for their initial appearance on charges of capital murder, aggravated kidnapping and theft.

Prosecutors say they beat 31-year-old Anson Arnett with a bat at the Maximum Life Skills Academy March 8 and stuffed his body in a closet. Arnett died the next day, and police arrested the teens in Las Vegas. They were brought back to Utah Monday night.

The teens have been charged as adults but prosecutors have not yet said whether they'll seek the death penalty.

No bail has yet been set.
