(Rockville-AP) -- Police are investigating the body of an Illinois man found floating in the Virgin River in Mosquito Cove.

That's a camping area just west of Rockville.

Washington County Sheriff's officials say friends reported the man missing early this week.

They say the 23-year-old man was camping with his girlfriend and another camper Monday night and was put into his tent intoxicated. The next morning, when the pair went to go look for him, he wasn't in his tent.

They searched the area but couldn't find him and filed a missing person's report.

A camper found his body in the river yesterday.

Police say there are no obvious signs of trauma and they're treating it as a suspicious death. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
