Samantha Hayes ReportingA man was caught in the act robbing a bank this afternoon on State Street. It was one of three bank robberies keeping police busy this afternoon.
Police say one robber had success before a couple weeks ago so he tried robbing the same bank, a Bank of Utah at 700 S. State. A teller recognized the man when he walked in and was able to press the alarm.
It’s a busy street so an officer was in the area and the man was arrested without a confrontation. Police say he was unarmed; now he’s in custody.
The first robbery of the day was at 9:30 this morning at South Salt Lake US Bank. The second at about 1:00 p.m. at a Bank One in West Valley. In that one, the robber was caught as well.
