LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- The Utah State University Press is merging with the Merrill-Cazier Library.

The university made the announcement Monday and says the partnership will officially start at the beginning of the 2011 fiscal year next summer.

Dean of USU Libraries Richard Clement says the decision to move the press to the library wasn't completely budget-driven. But he says there will be savings as the library will take on a number of support roles for the press, including accounting and public relations.

USU Press Director Michael Spooner says the press employs three people. It published 21 new books last year.

USU Press will adopt a new publication model that will include open access and increased digital delivery of books.
