(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A vote will come tonight on whether or not Salt Lake City will join in on the fiber optic network UTOPIA. And it doesn't look good.
The Salt Lake City Council appears likely to vote no to providing the financial backing needed to help the high-speed internet project get a lower interest rate on a bond to build the network.
The city would have to provide four-point-one (m) million dollars in tax revenue annually for 17-years. But Mayor Rocky Anderson said last week he's not sure if the city should risk taxpayers' money.
Six city council members will vote tonight. So far, three are leaning toward "no", one is leaning toward "yes", and two remain undecided.
