SANDY -- A 15-month-old Sandy boy is in the hospital after nearly drowning at home in a bathtub. It happened before noon Monday, near 9700 South and 260 East.

Police Sgt. Justin Chapman said the father of the toddler stepped away to grab some towels, and that's when the boy slipped under the water. Two other children under the age of 4 were in the tub with him at the time.

"It's just one of those sad situations where parents really have to be on their guard when they have kids that young," Chapman said.

The father was able to revive the child, but he was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center to be monitored because he was still having difficulty breathing.

Chapman said police were investigating the case but didn't expect charges to be filed.
