Sam Penrod ReportingAn apparent kidnapping on the campus of Weber State University ended at a Kaysville motel this afternoon when police arrested a man and rescued his wife.

It turns out that this kidnapping involves a man and his estranged wife. There was a lot of concern after a witness saw the woman forced into a car. They didn’t know of the relationship between the two so they called police.
As that witness called 9-1-1, the man apparently drove the woman from a parking lot at Weber State University in Ogden to a motel in Kaysville. The witness got the license plate from the car and detectives were able to trace the license plate number to a 44-year old man.

Officers found the car at the motel at about 1:30 this afternoon. Several officers surrounded the motel room and the man was arrested.
The woman did have a few injuries. Police say she was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but won’t give specifics about what the injuries are.
Police say the woman had obtained a protective order against her husband. They also say they recovered a lot of evidence inside the motel room, but they won’t discuss specifics on that.
The man is being held in the Weber County Jail.
