(Provo-AP) -- Those who go to Brigham Young University get a lot of bang for their buck.
Consumers Digest magazine ranks the school as the second-best value in American private higher education.
The magazine examined 35-hundred schools using a formula that blends the academic excellence of first-year students with the institution's student-to-faculty ratio. It also looks at the graduation rate and percentage of faculty holding doctorates.
Finally, that score was factored in with the estimated cost of attending each school.
B-Y-U took second behind its sister school B-Y-U-Hawaii.
Oklahoma State University ranked number one among public institutions.
The rankings are being published in the magazine's June issue.
