Debbie Dujanovic ReportingPolice call it a heartless crime. It's now been 24-hours since Beanie Young was run over on 2100 south, and there’s still no suspect. Tonight Beanie Young's family is saying they forgive whoever did this. They just hope he comes forward.
Last night at this time she'd left the Senior Care Center wearing a nightgown. Her family thinks she may have been walking across 2100 south 135 east to grab a snack before bedtime.
Witnesses say a truck heading westbound at about 35 miles an hour hit Young as she crossed the street. She hit the windshield, rolled off the truck, and then was run over again as she got swept under the tires.
The driver went about 100-yards, came back, looked at the scene then sped off, leaving Young in the road.
Jeff Young, Victim's Son: "I just hope he turns himself in, fesses up for what he did. He was wrong for hitting my mom and driving off like that."
A witness stopped to help the 66-year old victim. But tonight there’s still no sign of the man who hit Young.
His small truck is described as light blue or turquoise, possibly a Ford Ranger. The driver is in his 50's with a large nose.
Young was only carrying her door card to the senior center where she lives so police tracked down her identity by matching her card number to her room number at the center.
