SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Much of southwestern Utah lost 911 service Thursday when a cable was cut.

Qwest Communications spokesman Michael Dunne said the service was restored about 2 a.m. Friday.

Dunne said the cable was cut near Richfield by a construction company.

Qwest said that during the outage, people still were able reach police and fire departments by dialing the normal seven digit numbers.
